Karate Kids

At Atlanta Kick, families find a place where their children become the very best versions of themselves! When you join our karate family, you become part of a group of instructors, kids and their families who work together to create an un-intimidating environment of fun, belonging, and acceptance.

Dorothy Woodrum, one of our karate parents said this about her child’s experience…

The instructors at Atlanta Kick are phenomenal.  My son has been taking karate for over a year now and has grown so much over the past year.  In addition to the karate techniques, the instructors also teach softer skills through weekly “mat chats” focusing on values and character development such as perseverance, determination, self-discipline, and bullying.  Through the guidance provided in these mat chats, my son has been able to approach several situations at school differently, turning a couple difficult situations into opportunities to practice these new skills.  This has been a huge boost to his self-confidence…and he attributes his actions to guidance provided by Mr. Hampton during the mat chats!  We have been extremely pleased with the instructors and the overall program at Atlanta Kick and we would strongly recommend it!

We understand the challenges facing families. During these formative years, parents deal with many including:

Samurai Program: Ages 7-9

What are the benefits of enrolling my child in this program?

Middle childhood presents a host of new opportunities and changes in your child’s development. They also express their thoughts and feelings in better ways and begin to show less focus on “self” and more concern for others. We understand this is a critical time for your child to build self-confidence.

Experts in the field of child development stress that children ages 5-7 have one hour or more of daily physical activity limit screen time to no more than one to two hours a day, and that they practice healthy eating habits.

We work to advance all of these needs by focusing on concentration, perseverance, courage, intensity, and technique. By offering this age-specific program, your child will not be distracted by younger or older students. Your child feels more comfortable and more capable of achieving excellence in a group of peers.

What should I expect during a class?

During each class, Samurai students focus on five advanced skills specific to each belt level. These skills support development in physical condition, intellectual, emotional and social development.

Juniors Program: Ages 10-14

What are the benefits of enrolling in the Juniors program?

During your child’s pre-teen and teen years many physical, mental, emotional, and social changes occur. Young teens hormone levels shift and with those changes come challenges. Physical appearance gains importance to teens and can lead to depression and eating disorders. They also face more peer-pressure around the use of alcohol, tobacco, drugs and sex. Teens become more independent and start making their own choices in friends, sports, and school. Although they want more independence, the influence of parents and other adults is critically important.

Students at Atlanta Kick support each other like family. They engage in positive activities and avoid peers that make unhealthy choices. Your teen will be encouraged and motivated by this outstanding group of karate students. Additionally, our instructors treat your teen like their own , investing in your child’s success. The wholistic approach to this program requires physical fitness, mental toughness, and emotional intelligence.

What should I expect during a class?

Atlanta Kick uses a rotating curriculum that is a revolutionary way to teach martial arts. This method allows all students in class, regardless of rank, to work on the same material at the same time. Students move through different material together in two-month cycles and test at the end of the cycle if approved.

What are the requirements for advancement?

Junior students move through five yearly cycles. Each cycle is 10 weeks long. Approvals to test occur in week 10.
