ABOUT

Playball is for boys and girls of every ability and interest, ages 2- 12. We offer a fun and structured way of engaging children in sports and physical activity at a young age. Our highly qualified coaches teach our science based curriculum which provides a platform for enhancing life skills and building a strong base for confident sport participation in the future.

CLASSES

Our action-packed classes ensure maximum learning and are delivered by experienced, professional, background checked coaches who are well-trained in the program. The classes have an impressive creative component which ensures that children are never bored, and that they love every lesson. KEY FOCUS AT EACH AGE

Ages 2-3
Having fun and laying the basic foundations of movement through exploration, experimentation and discovery.

Ages 3-4
Concepts in sports like coach and team. Continued development of movement skills, basic sports skills.

Ages 4-5
Presenting sports and movement as fun, continued skill development, confidence building, skill sequencing.

Ages 5-6
Skill refinement, proper form, skill execution, teamwork, decision making in game situations.

Ages 6-12
Game situations, skill refinement, body positioning, teamwork, advanced decision making in game situations, advanced skill sequencing.

THE PLAYBALL COACHING METHOD

LESSON STRUCTURE

Classes last 30 minutes and are grouped by age range and have one or more coaches depending on the number of participants.  Each class contains a variety of creative activities that teach and develop locomotor skills, stability, and object
manipulation. Examples of the way we practice each of these skills include:

  • Walking          Bending
  • Landing          Stretching
  • Running         Twisting
  • Jumping         Rolling
  • Hopping         Dodging
  • Climbing        Throwing
  • Swinging        Rolling (ball)
  • Kicking           Bouncing
  • Balancing       Turning
  • Starting           Concentrating
  • Stopping         Visual tracking

PFP’s (Playball Focus Points)

The PFPs teach children proper form and body positioning for each skill. The PFPs include:
• Hand/Foot Position
• Stance
• Head Position
• Action
• Contact/Release Point
• Finish/follow through

MAL’s (Maximum Activity Levels)

Utilizing maximum activity level techniques, Playball students spend little if any, time waiting. Classes are designed to engage as many students as possible at all times.

CAS (Creative Application of the Skill)

We use stories, games, competitions, and other age/group appropriate ways to communicate what we want the kids to do. It’s a great way to hold their attention and they’re never bored!
